I like hearing classic literature presented in new forms. This was certainly true of Poe's The Raven, which has been made the subject of a satiric song. The Bells in the Batfry troupe know no bounda; they are happy to guy any so-called classic texts. In Episode 124, first aired on Hallowe'en last year (2011), they performed a "dramatic reading" of Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow; the reading is certainly 'dramatic,' and not what anyone might expect. It's certainly not like the rather staid performance given by Martin Jarvis and regularly broadcast on Radio 4 Extra.

If listeners fancy something quirky, and are prepared to see sacred cows being sacrificed, then Bells in the Batfry is ideal fare.
