Our Fair City.com, 2011-2012
Our Fair City is the
kind of serial radio drama paying tribute to the enthusiasm of a group of voice actors, writers and technicians who regularly
meet to produce seasons of stories.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world over which human beings have little or no control, each episode features
a group of travellers trying - and mostly succeeding - in overcoming impossible odds. As they do so, they learn something
about themselves, and how they should sustain their personal moral codes, while at the same time sustaining group identity
as a form of protection against anything an indifferent universe can throw at them.
To explain the plot would take up too much time:
instead, I would recommend that potential listeners turn to the webpage (www.ourfaircity.com) and find out for themselves what the series has in store for them.
Suffice to say that, while the series is ostensibly set in the future, its roots lie firmly
in the past; more specifically in the old-time radio serials (which later migrated to the cinema) that held audiences spellbound
in the midst of the previous century. If you like that kind of radio fare, then you'll love Our Fair City.
