Northern Lights Media, April 2013

First published in 1931, The Lost Elevator has a straightforward plot; an elevator gets stuck in between floors in a high-rise building, and the occupants react to it in different ways.  On the one hand, it is a product of its time, with an African-American operator trying to resolve the difficulty while telling jokes; on the other hand, it is a testament to the human spirit of being able to cope with crises in the best way possible.

Northern Lights Media's revival admirably caught the tension lurking throughout the drama between comedy and hysteria: a situation like this can cause people to react in extreme fashion.  The fact that they didn't is a tribute to their sang-froid.  The cast included Anders Langley, Marty Ackland, Jonathan Hall, Ann Wanschura, Elizabeth Schmitter (doing a wonderful piece in German), and Matthew J. Anderson.  Congratulations to all concerned.
