Based on the familiar "end of civilization as we know it" scenario, "Balancing Act" imagines a world conquered by aliens, who aim quite literally to extinguish all human life and the emotions they express. There is only one young man who resists this process, and by doing so puts all his fellow human beings at risk.

Mike Murphy's play, as well as being highly competent science fiction, forces listeners to reconsider what the hackneyed concept of "being human" actually signifies. He comes up with some surprising answers, concentrating especially on the act of love.

This Misfits Audio production contains some familiar voices such as Joe Stofko, Glenn Hascall, Russell Gold and Steve Anderson as the old-style narrator. British listeners might also take pleasure in the presence of Michael Simkins as the "radio voice."
